Helping a leading healthtech company improve staff satisfaction


The Challenge
A leading manufacturer of medical devices runs an internal survey of team members to assess perceptions of the company, brand and offer. The latest round of feedback from this survey highlighted some areas where the business was not performing at the desired level.
Research was required to gain a deeper understanding of what was behind these results, and to explore what action could be taken to rectify the position and improve across the key areas identified in the internal survey
Our Approach
Bryter undertook a three-stage approach to help meet the needs of the business comprised of
1. An initial review & working session with the senior leadership team to review the results of the internal staff survey
2. Focus groups and in depth interviews with a mix of team members from different markets working at different levels within the business
3. A workshop with senior team members from a mix of EU regions to review the feedback and develop an action plan to improve staff satisfaction
The Outcome
The results from the study highlighted several key areas within the business that needed to be addressed to improve staff satisfaction
1. Recognition - prioritise situational recognition, standardise formal recognition systems and engrain informal systems into company culture
2. Development - highlight access to development resources, provide protected time for training and development and encourage development
3. Progression - set realistic expectations of how and when employees will progress, and address progression with employees between performance reviews
4. Trust - provide increased autonomy to those in those in senior leadership and develop more open lines of communication within the business hierarchy
The results from the study and actions taken off the back of the subsequent leadership workshop resulted in a range of changes being implemented within the business in terms of how employees were managed, assessed and reviewed, leading to an uplift in staff satisfaction scores in the subsequent year's internal satisfaction survey
